HP StorageWorks NAS4000s is based on an HP ProLiant industry standard server. The integration of Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 and HP management software provides a network server that is ready for standalone use as a network file server. This system may be extended by installation of KOM Networks KOMworx storage management software to provide file retention compliance.

The HP StorageWorks NAS9000s may also be considered. While the NAS9000s was not tested for this audit, one would expect similar results. Figure 2 shows a graphic of the tested equipment. The HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array 500 (MSA 500) is an Ultra3 SCSI (supporting Ultra320 hard drives) storage system, supporting up to 2 TB of data capacity, designed specifically for 2-node clustering and multiple node (up to 4 servers) shared storage. Designed to reduce the complexity and expense of clustering and storage sharing, the Modular Smart Array 500 is built upon Smart Array and ProLiant technologies to provide advanced data protection features yet is simple to deploy, configure and manage. Ideal for entry level clustering and shared storage, the Modular Smart Array 500 is familiar SCSI technology, making it a simple and powerful storage platform.
